A group of inmates allegedly attacked another inmate at the Brandon Correctional Centre Saturday, beating him with furniture and sending him to hospital.
WINNIPEG A break in the weather couldn’t have come at a better time as the Assiniboine Park Zoo flipped the switch for opening night of their annual Zoo Lights event on Saturday. A sellout crowd took in the stunning display of 1.5 million lights spread out over an eighty-acre area. There is also a video wall in one of the displays that showcases montages of Manitoba photography and images. A highlight, according to Bruce Keats, chief operating officer at the Assiniboine Park Conservancy, is the Tundra Trail.
“You’ve got to go through the Tundra Trail. The Tundra Trail is a just an incredible dazzle of light displays in the Zoo tonight,” said Keats.
WINNIPEG It was an all Manitoba matchup at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts Saturday night in Calgary with Chelsea Carey’s Wild Card One team beating Jennifer Jones’ Team Manitoba 9-2. In a post-game interview game Carey said the third end was a turning point. “We got into trouble early then we got into a pretty good spot and then we got a couple of misses out of Jen, which obviously is uncharacteristic, but we were able to take advantage. So, that was a big swing for us cause they had us in trouble in the first two,” said Chelsea Carey, skip for Wild Card One team.
